Tusk calls on farmers to stop the border blockade: We cannot do any harm in any way
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has called on Polish farmers to stop blocking the border with Ukraine. This was reported byPolish Radio.
“We cannot in any way harm Ukraine in a situation where the fate of the war is being decided,” Tusk emphasized.
The Prime Minister of Poland called on the protesting farmers to stop blockading the border. He spoke about the difficult circumstances in which Ukraine found itself after the recent Russian bombing and said that the coming time could be critical to deciding the fate of the conflict.
“I want to appeal to everyone in Poland, without exception, not to do anything that could harm Ukraine,” Tusk said.
He added that the Poles should make decisions that will protect the Polish border and border crossings. Tusk reminded that according to the latest government decision, border crossings have the status of critical infrastructure and said that the government is ready to provide assistance to those who have lost part of their income.
“I am counting on reflection and abandonment of this form of protest,” he said.
Tusk also said that state services would work to clear the checkpoints, but did not consider it necessary to take direct coercive measures.
