Turkey is becoming an increasingly important importer of Ukrainian soybeans and corn

Turkey continues to increase imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, especially soybeans and corn. From January to July of this year, the volume of imports from Ukraine increased to $1.48 billion, which is 16% higher than the corresponding figure in 2024.
Thus, in the first 7 months of 2025, Turkey increased its corn imports by 2.4 times compared to the previous season, from $322.9 to $760.6 million, and soybeans by 80%, from $141.9 to $255.4 million. At the same time, sunflower oil imports decreased by 18%, from $389.9 to $319 million.
It is worth noting that supplies of soybeans, corn, and sunflower oil together accounted for 90% of the total volume of Ukrainian agricultural products imported by Turkey, although in 2024 their share was 69%.
The reason for the increase in imports was that some of the products that Turkey buys from Ukraine are supplied to Iran through its companies.
But in the second half of 2025, an increase in supplies of soybeans and corn to Turkey from the Russian Federation, which is a traditional seller of agricultural products to Iran and Turkey, is expected, so Ukraine’s presence on the Turkish market will decrease.
