Turkey became the top export destination of Romanian corn in 2018/19 MY

According to the official data of EuroStat, in 2018/19 MY (September-August) Romania exported 5486 KMT of corn, which was 26% higher than in the previous season, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Weaker exports to Spain and Italy were compensated by supplies to other destinations. Thus, Turkey became the importer number one, increasing purchases by 115% y/y to the record volume – 871 KMT.
Higher exports were seen to Netherlands, Germany, Lebanon and Libya. Egypt returned to Romanian corn market after a pause in 2017/18.
In 2019/20 Romania can further improve its corn export statistics thanks to the higher corn crop.
