The European Union will open up to the export of Ukrainian pork within two years
The year 2022 has become special – there are significant relaxations on the part of the EU regarding the export of products from Ukraine. Among them, there is a certain understanding that it can also be a product of pig farming, which was not even particularly discussed before.
Oksana Yurchenko, president of the “Swine Farmers of Ukraine” association (SFUA), stated this.
“We worked with experts and the veterinary service to ensure that draft questionnaires were already ready for enterprises that want to check to what extent they meet the requirements of EU regulations,” she said.
A number of processors who are interested in exporting pork have studied these questionnaires to assess what they need to polish to prove their compliance.
“Next year, in cooperation with international organizations, we will start unofficial audits to support such manufacturers. Currently, we have four enterprises,” Oksana Yurchenko emphasized.
According to the SFUA estimates, the European Union will open up to the export of domestic pork within two years, and this is not a pessimistic scenario.
Meanwhile, the official approval of international certificates for the export of pork with Vietnam and Hong Kong is progressing, Oksana Yurchenko added.
“But at the moment it is not very relevant, because the sea routes are closed, and other logistics are financially impractical for manufacturers,” she clarified.
