The bulk of January’s Ukrainian barley exports went to Turkey
152 KMT of barley was exported in January 2019/20, or 38% less than in December and 27% more than in January 2018/19, UkrAgroConsult reports.
3.9 MMT of barley had been shipped abroad since the beginning of the season, or 19% more than in the same period in MY 2018/19.
In January, Ukraine exported barley to just eight destinations: Turkey, Tunisia, Qatar, Israel, Bangladesh, Libya, the European Union and Bahrain.
The bulk of January’s exports went to Turkey – 69 KMT, or 45%.
Overall, this season’s deliveries to Turkey are 21 higher than a year ago.
Regular buyers such as Saudi Arabia and China made no purchases in January.
Relatively small deliveries in recent months have not yet changed this season’s picture: exports to Saudi Arabia halved from last season, while the majority of the remaining buyers, on the contrary, stepped up purchases massively.
