Syria announces tender for purchase of 200 thsd tons of wheat

The Syrian state procurement company has announced an international tender for the purchase of 200,000 tons of wheat. This was reported by the Zerno On-Line agency with reference to European traders. The deadline for submitting proposals is September 15.
According to the terms of the tender, delivery will take place within 60 days from the date of the contract. Partial shipment is allowed, but not less than 100,000 tons.
The wheat purchased at the tender will help cover the domestic deficit. As previously reported, Syria may face a food crisis due to crop failure.
At the last tender, which took place in March, Syria purchased about 100,000 tons of wheat of Black Sea origin. It is believed that this was the first large grain tender since the change of power in Syria at the end of last year.
