Sunseed export restrictions will prevent Kazakhstan from setting a new record
A record 285.6 KMT of sunflower seed was exported in MY 2019/20 (September-March) (+12.5% from MY 2018/19), UkrAgroConsult reports.
Export potential in MY 2019/20 is below its record high due to restrictions imposed on sunflower seed exports outside the EEU from April 12 to June 30, 2020.
China is the largest importer, absorbing 63% of total exports. It increased purchases to 178.8 KMT vs 101 KMT a year earlier. Turkey resumed purchases and increased their volume to 3.4 KMT.
Accelerated exports was registered to the following countries: – China (+77%), Tajikistan (+24%).
A slowdown in exports was observed to Uzbekistan (-35%) and Afghanistan (-23%).
