Sunflower oil imports into the European Union have fallen by 25% since the start of the season.
From the start of the current season (July 1, 2024) to October 14, EU countries continued to reduce their vegetable oil imports. Total imports amounted to 1,236 tons, a 26% decrease compared to the same period last season, according to the Zerno On-Line agency, citing the European Commission.
Sunflower oil imports over the first fifteen weeks of the current season fell to 426,200 tons (-25% compared to last season), while palm oil imports fell to 725,500 tons (-25%). At the same time, soybean oil imports increased to 200,200 tons (+160%) and rapeseed oil to 84,400 tons (+1%).
Sunflower oil and soybean oil are imported this season mainly from Ukraine (396.4 thousand tons and 106.4 thousand tons), palm oil – from Malaysia (211.5 thousand tons) and Indonesia (202.7 thousand tons).
