Sunflower areas in Moldova to grow due to grain crops

This year, about 420 thousand hectares of sunflower have been sown in Moldova, which is slightly more than last year, Logos Press reports. In the structure of field crops for the current year’s harvest in the country, the share of oilseeds is at least 30%. According to agronomic standards, analysts say it should not exceed 20%.
At the same time, the area under grain and legume crops has decreased. In particular, wheat crops have decreased to 279 thousand hectares (from 364 thousand hectares in 2024). Despite the fact that cereals are a necessary and useful position in crop rotation, many agricultural producers are coming to the conclusion that their production is losing its economic attractiveness. This is especially true for feed wheat.
Earlier, it became known that rapeseed crops in Moldova will grow to record levels. The sown area will reach a record 120 thousand hectares, compared to an average of 40-45 thousand hectares over the past five years.
