Stratégie Grains analysts lowered the forecast of wheat production in the EU

In the March report, Stratégie Grains experts lowered the forecast of total wheat production in the EU in 2024/25 MY by 1.4 mln tonnes to 128.8 mln tonnes (133 mln tonnes in 2023/24 MY), including soft wheat – by 1 mln tonnes to 121.6 (125.7) mln tonnes. The largest decline in wheat production will be in France, Germany and Poland, while in Hungary it may increase.
The forecast of total barley production in the EU was decreased by 1.3 mln tonnes to 51.8 mln tonnes (47.4 mln tonnes in 2023/24 MY), including winter barley – by 0.6 mln tonnes to 28.3 mln tonnes (29.9 mln tonnes) and spring barley – by 0.7 mln tonnes to 23.5 mln tonnes (17.5 mln tonnes).
At the same time, the forecast of corn production in the EU was increased by 0.3 to 64.4 (61.6) million tons due to the increase in sowing areas by 4% to 8.8 million hectares.
