Spanish football club unveiled a uniform made from orange fibres
Spanish football club Real Betis has officially introduced a limited-edition kit made from organic orange peel fibers. The new uniform was developed using environmentally friendly materials as part of the club’s efforts to reduce its environmental footprint.
The fabric is primarily made from fibers extracted from orange peels, combined with orange tree cellulose and recycled polyester to enhance durability. The manufacturing process also used eco-friendly dyes free from harsh chemical components.
One of the unique features of the kit is its natural orange blossom scent, which can be released by gently rubbing the fabric. The initiative aims not only to offer an innovative design but also to raise awareness about the importance of trees in urban ecosystems.
The club is based in a city with more than 50,000 orange trees, which serve both decorative and environmental functions, including natural drainage during heavy rainfall. The project is part of the club’s broader “Forever Green” sustainability program focused on reducing carbon emissions.
Real Betis is considered one of Europe’s leading football clubs in environmental initiatives and became the first football club to partner with the United Nations in the “Sports for Climate Action” program, supporting global climate efforts.
