Soybean planting in Brazil can now begin, but work is not progressing due to lack of rain

Brazilian producers in the states of Paraná and Mato Grosso, who could have already started planting the new crop due to the end of the sanitary gap, are still waiting for the rains to arrive to put the machines on the fields and start the new season.

Until September 13 there were no signs of the beginning of the sowing of the 2024/25 Brazilian crop, with some states in the central strip of the country registering more than 100 days without significant rainfall. At the same time last year, work had already begun in Paraná and Mato Grosso in a few locations.

We can already say that planting in Brazil is behind schedule, but it is still too early to be overly alarmed about this. It is clear that the delay in the arrival of rain is a cause for concern at the moment and in the next two weeks, since forecasts indicate that rain will only reach part of the state of Paraná, while Mato Grosso and other states in the central strip of the country will continue without rainfall. However, it is still too early to talk about a reduction in the national production potential.

Climate maps indicate a period of rainfall in the South Region between September 13 and 19, which may influence producers in Paraná to start planting. In the rest of the country, little or no moisture is expected.

However, in the period between September 20 and 26, some moisture is still expected for the South Region, with the states in the central strip receiving little or no moisture.
