Southern Ukraine can start harvesting rapeseed in a week – scientist

The harvesting campaign of winter crops, including rapeseed, may start in the southern regions of Ukraine in a week. In general, this year’s harvesting campaign will be 2 weeks earlier than usual, Sergiy Avramenko, PhD in Agriculture, told ASAP Agri.
Some agronomists in Dnipropetrovs’k region plan to start harvesting winter barley and wheat on June 7-10, and rapeseed on June 15.
As for winter rapeseed, Avramenko said that this crop was affected by frosts in early May. Farmers may prefer to reseed the damaged fields, but dry weather is holding some of them back from this decision.
