Since the beginning of July, imports of meals to the EU have been declining
From July 1 to August 19 this year, the EU countries reduced the volume of imports of meal to 7.03 million tons, which is 7% less than in the same period last year. Such data was published by the European Commission (EC) in its monitoring.
It is specified that the decline in supplies occurred against the background of a decrease in imports of soybean and sunflower meal – to 5.71 mln tonnes (-10% yoy) and 928.5 thsd tonnes (-1%), respectively. At the same time, imports of rapeseed meal to the EU, on the contrary, increased significantly – by 52%, to 392 thsd tonnes.
According to the EC, Brazil supplied the largest amount of soybean meal to Europe in the reporting period – 3.84 mln tonnes (67.3% share). Argentina is next with 981.5 thsd tonnes (17.2%), and the USA is the third with 265.85 thsd tonnes (4.7%).
Russia and Belarus remain the leaders in the structure of rapeseed meal exports to the EU – 166.25 thsd tonnes (42.4%) and 109.5 thsd tonnes (27.9%), respectively. In addition, Ukraine shipped over 88 thsd tonnes of the product (22.5%).
Since July 1, Ukrainian and Argentine suppliers have shipped the largest volumes of sunflower meal to the EU – 330.5 thsd tonnes (35.6%) and 308.25 thsd tonnes (33.2%), respectively. Russia, in turn, sold 160.65 thsd tonnes (17.3%) of sunflower meal to the European market.
