Russian farmers started harvesting corn
Weather conditions. Abnormally warm, dry weather favorable for harvest dominated the Northwestern, Central and Volga federal districts on September 1-10. Unstable weather was seen the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts. In the western half of the Siberian federal district, the warmest days occurred on September 6-10.
Moisture supply. The Northwestern, Central and Volga federal districts received little precipitation (2-7 mm). Harvest picked up there. No precipitation was registered in the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts; dry winds were seen there during 5-7 days. Dry weather was unfavorable for maturation of arable crops, as well as for planting and emergence of winter grains. In the Siberian federal district, rainfall maintained soil moisture at a sufficient level for winter crops, but complicated fieldwork.
Crop condition is good and fair, reports UkrAgroConsult.
