Russian Ag Ministry mulling to restrict buckwheat exports

No specific mechanism or dates have been announced yet – the proposal is at the stage of discussion. In April 2020, Russia already suspended buckwheat exports that entailed a hike in buckwheat groats price in Ukraine, its main importer, UkrAgroConsult reports.
If such a step is made this year as well, it would probably bring about a scenario similar to last year’s one (shrinking domestic supply and growing prices). Buckwheat stocks as of April 1, 2021 were up 24% y-o-y, but down 34% from 2019.
