Russia. Amur region to reduce soybean plantings by 2%

In order to optimize crop rotation, it is planned to reduce the area percentage of soybeans in Amur region in 2020 by 2% (74% of plantings in 2019) in favor of grains and forage crops.

According to scientifically grounded standards, the share of soybeans in the crop rotation should not exceed 63%.

Amur region accounts for some 40% of Russia’s total soybean production. Pulses and pulse products represent a major article of export.

Soybean export potential of the Far Eastern federal district is to reach 2 MMT by 2024. Amur region is planning to increase soybean production to 2.2 MMT by that time, UkrAgroConsult reports.
