Russia. Winter crops enjoyed good and fair weather conditions

Weather conditions. In the second decade of October, the weather in European Russia was much warmer than usual, with the average daily air temperature being 3-6°C above normal. Very warm weather persisted in the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts. Farming areas of Western Siberia were exposed to far-above-normal air temperatures on most days after October 10 (to October 16-17).

Moisture supply. Precipitation in the southern half of the Central and in the southwest of the Volga federal districts in the second decade of October were little (1-5 mm). This helped farmers complete harvest of sunflower, corn and soybeans. Plants are largely well supplied with moisture. Rainfall in most areas of the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts was insignificant (5-10 mm over October 11-19). Precipitation in the Siberian district was insignificant (below 10 mm) –this did not affect harvest completion substantially.

Crop condition. Most parts of the Northwestern, Volga and Central federal districts in the second decade of October enjoyed good and fair weather conditions for growing of winter grains. In the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts, harvest of late grains and sunflower continued in favorable conditions. Winter grains in the Siberian federal district continued growing, mostly with adequate moisture supply, reports UkrAgroConsult.
