Romania. Wheat exports are record high
According to port data, in August 2019/20 MY Romania exported 1094.8 KMT of wheat, which was 19% more than in the same month of 2018/19 MY and the record volume for this month. During the last three seasons average wheat exports by sea equaled 922 KMT, reports UkrAgroConsult.
In August 2019 key buyers of Romanian wheat were: Egypt, Spain, Sudan and Jordan. Noticeable were also exports to Algeria and far way Japan.
In July-August 2018/19 MY Romania exported 1870.7 KMT of wheat via ports, which is 7% more than over the same period last season and so far a new record for the country due to high production and more attractive export prices this season.
Higher demand is seen from the top buyer – Egypt (+17%). Thailand, which imported only 20 KMT in 2018/19, is now the second largest buyer with 190.2 KMT. Sudan increased purchases by 168%. South Korea has already imported 58.4 KMT against 63 KMT over the whole last season.
