Romania wants to supply wheat to Indonesia

Romanian wheat traders eye Indonesia as new export market
Romanian grain exporters are eyeing Indonesia as a promising market, thanks to a change in regulations allowing Romania’s ANSVSA to issue certificates for the export of plant products to the country. According to S&P Commodity Insights, this opens up access to one of the world’s largest wheat importers, which buys an average of 10.85 million tons annually.
Traders expressed interest in the new opportunities at the recent Eurogrand conference in Bucharest. Romanian wheat, which has a higher protein content (12-12.5%), can compete with Black Sea wheat, which contains 11.5% protein.
With Egypt shifting its focus to Bulgarian wheat, the Indonesian market is becoming a viable alternative. Current domestic stocks are limited and eyes are on the new Romanian crop, which is valued at US$240 per tonne (FOB) for delivery in July.
