Romania. Meteorologists forecast no effective precipitation within current week

Weather conditions. Subnormal air temperatures persisted in the country this past week (2..4°C below long-term normals). From March 31 to April 2, night air temperatures dropped to -8..-5°C. On April 3, the air temperature pattern returned to its long-term average.

Moisture supply. The highest amount of precipitation (sleet and rain) was seen in the south (5-10 mm over the week). The east and southeast of the country still face severe moisture shortages, which reduce yield potential of winter crops. 

In the latter half of the week, the upper soil layer (5 cm) warmed up to +1..+11°C in the daytime, enabling farmers to accelerate spring planting. 

Meteorologists forecast no effective precipitation in Romania within the coming seven days – this will aggravate the soil drought impact in the southeast. The air temperature will be 2-4°C above the long-term normal level again, UkrAgroConsult reports.
