Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will urge Polish protesters not to block the border with Ukraine
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will urge Polish protesters not to block the Polish-Ukrainian border. Tusk said this during a press conference in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Donald Tusk assured that for Poland “it is very important to help Ukraine in the war with Russia, and Poland’s activities will not change in this regard.”
The Prime Minister promised to do everything to effectively support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.
In turn, the Polish government understands the concerns of Polish farmers and carriers. Donald Tusk noted that he would check why Polish farmers plan to resume the blockade of the Polish-Ukrainian border despite the agreement to suspend the blockade.
“I will want to know why the trust (between the minister and the farmers – ed.) was so short-lived,” the Polish Prime Minister said.
Tusk also said that he had asked Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak to provide him with prospects for solving the problem of the blockade of the border by carriers.
“I will persuade Polish carriers not to use the blockade as a method of protecting their interests,” Tusk emphasized, and assured that the Polish government wants to do “everything possible to protect their interests in unequal competition with Ukrainian carriers.”
According to the prime minister, the blockade of the border in the context of Russia’s intensified bombing of Ukraine does not help the Polish authorities solve this problem, but rather hinders them.
Tusk emphasized that Poland’s arguments would be “better heard” (in Ukraine and the EU – ed.) if Poland is not a country that blocks the border.”
