Polish farmers signed an agreement with the government and unblocked the Ukrainian border at the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint
In the evening of January 6, the clearance and passage of freight vehicles on the Ukrainian-Polish border at the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint in the direction of our country was carried out as usual. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
“According to the information received from the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland, on January 6 at 21:00 (Kyiv time), the protest action in front of the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint ended,” the SBGS reports.
As of the evening of January 6, 650 trucks were waiting in line in front of the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint to enter Ukraine: “We ask drivers and carriers to take this information into account when planning international transportation,” the SBGS said.
In the evening of January 6, the governor of Podkarpackie region, Teresa Kubas-Gul, announced the signing of an agreement between Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Siekerski and farmers of the association “Deceived Village” who protested at the border in Medyka. This was reported by Polsatnews.
The Minister promised to meet all the demands of the farmers, including
- launching subsidies for corn in the amount of 1 million zlotys,
- increase in lending for liquid loans by PLN 2.5 billion,
- maintaining the level of agricultural tax at the level of 2023.
“After the signing of the agreement, the protest at the Medyka checkpoint is suspended for the period necessary to implement legal and notification changes and for the time necessary to implement additional changes,” the agreement says.
