Polish carriers and farmers block another checkpoint on the border with Ukraine
Local agrarians also joined the protest of Polish carriers at the Medika-Shegin checkpoint. Their protest was organized by the organization Deceived Village.
On the territory of Poland, blocking of the movement of cargo vehicles began on the road in front of the Medika checkpoint, adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint Shehyni. This was reported by the State border service of Ukraine on Thursday, November 23.
“In this regard, the complication of traffic is possible both at the exit from Poland, and at the entrance. Blocking of traffic may continue from November 23 to 26. At the same time, obstruction of the movement of buses and passenger cars is not envisaged,” – stated in the message.
It is indicated that now in this direction to enter Ukraine on the territory of Poland are waiting for about 1400 trucks.
Local agrarians also joined the protest of Polish carriers at the checkpoint Medika-Shegin. Their protest was organized by the organization Deceived Village. The action will consist of a continuous movement of protesters on foot in Medica on the road of national importance No. 28 leading to the checkpoint. For now it will last from 10:00 to 21:00, and from Monday it will be extended for a full day.
Farmers will allow only two trucks per hour. Meanwhile, cars, buses and trucks carrying humanitarian aid will be allowed through without restriction.
The protesters have three main demands to the Polish government:
The implementation of additional payments to corn purchase prices, which they consider too low in the region;
extension for the next year of the program of low-interest loans to agrarians, which were introduced in connection with the influx of Ukrainian grain on the Polish market;
maintaining the agrarian tax rate, which is planned to be raised in 2024 at this year’s level.
The protesters have already handed their demands to the Voivode of Podkarpackie Voivodeship. According to them, if the Polish government fulfills all the demands, the protest will end.
We will remind, on November 6 on the Polish-Ukrainian border began a strike of carriers of Poland. They demand the abolition of transportation visa-free travel for Ukraine. In a few days queues for dozens of kilometers gathered.
And yesterday, Poland announced the expansion of the blockade on the border with Ukraine.
