The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Czeslaw Sekerski has announced the strengthening of control and intensification of inspections of Ukrainian agricultural products exported to Poland. This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland on the X network.

They noted that Sekerski is currently inspecting checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border.

“Excessive imports of agricultural products from Ukraine that do not meet EU production requirements threaten the competitiveness of Polish agriculture,” the Polish ministry said.

As part of the inspection of agricultural products from Ukraine, the Minister visited the Medyka and Korczowa checkpoints.

During his visit to the checkpoints, the Minister also met with representatives of the organization of farmers “Deceived Village”, which had previously blocked the road near the checkpoint “Medyka-Shehyni”.

Earlier, Polish farmers announced a new nationwide strike on February 9, which will last until March 10.

Earlier, the ministers of agriculture of Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary in a joint letter to the European Commission demanded to re-impose import duties on Ukrainian grain.

The European Commission rejected this request, so Poland proposed to introduce a new protective mechanism at the EU level, which would impose regional restrictions on imports of certain types of agricultural products from Ukraine.

At the same time, Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekerski stated that the new government would not lift the ban on imports of a number of agricultural products from Ukraine, and the embargo on their imports to Poland would be indefinite. At the same time, the country’s authorities recognize that this decision violates EU rules and will try to legally adapt it to them.

As reported, Ukraine has offered Poland a mechanism for verifying agricultural exports in accordance with the European Commission’s decision, which is already working effectively with Romania and Bulgaria.
