Poland to build a powerful grain terminal in the port of Gdansk
Poland plans to build a powerful grain transshipment terminal in the port of Gdansk.
According to a report on the website of the Polish government, the facility is planned to be commissioned by 2026.
It is noted that the terminal will be built by Port of Gdańsk Eksploatacja (100% owned by the State Treasury of Poland). By investing in 9 additional warehouses, the company will increase its transshipment capacity from 0.7 million tons to 2.9 million tons per year. Thus, PGE will become a key player in the export of Polish grain.
“Polish ports are in a good financial condition, so we must go further by investing in areas necessary to ensure our security and development. A fully Polish grain terminal with a very high capacity will be built. Warehouses will also be expanded, their capacity will increase from 30 thousand to more than 150 thousand tons,” commented Dariusz Klimczak, Minister of Infrastructure of Poland.
Investments in the construction of the grain terminal are estimated at PLN 400 million (about $100 million).
