Poland may embargo other groups of Ukrainian products in the future – Tusk

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the country may impose an embargo on other groups of Ukrainian products in the future. According to the Prime Minister, Ukrainian products pose a serious threat to the Polish economy.
This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk after a meeting in the Visegrad format in Prague.
According to him, the border between Poland and Ukraine, between Slovakia and Ukraine is the border of the European Union, and “we also want to protect the European market.”
“Poland continues the embargo on imports of Ukrainian grain, but it is possible, and we are also talking about this with the Ukrainian side, that the embargo will need to be extended to other products, unless the EU finds better ways to more effectively protect the European and Polish market,” Tusk said.
The Polish Prime Minister claims that Ukrainian products pose a serious threat to the Polish economy.
“The standards required of European and Polish farmers are very high. And there are no standards, no requirements for Ukrainian products. We want to help Ukraine – this is not up for discussion, but it cannot be at the cost of steps that will be deadly for entire sectors of the Polish economy… Ukrainian grain is two and sometimes three times cheaper than that produced in Europe. We are also talking about vegetables, sugar, rapeseed, oil, and other products,” he summarized.
Also, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski demands that the EU reinstate trade restrictions on imports of Ukrainian food that existed before Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
