Planting of the new soybean crop nears its final stretch, reaching 91.6% in Brazil

The planting of the new Brazilian soybean crop is entering its final phase, with more than 90% of the areas already sown, with several regions already complete between November 22 and 28. This accelerated progress demonstrates greater efficiency than in the same period last year and the five-year average, highlighting the good pace of agricultural operations.

The climate scenario remains favorable, providing security for crop development. Although some regions are facing occasional rainfall below ideal, especially in specific areas, the overall scenario remains very positive. This is especially noticeable in the Midwest, where the main producing states have practically finished planting, ensuring a solid base for the growth of the crop.

According to the latest survey by SAFRAS & Mercado, through November 29, Brazilian farmers had already sown 91.6% of the area projected for the 2024/25 crop. This rate corresponds to approximately 43.41 mln hectares sown, out of an estimated total of 47.401 mln hectares. The rate was 85.6% the previous week and 83.3% in the same period last year, while the five-year average for the period is 86.7%.

In Rio Grande do Sul, out of a total area estimated at 6.87 mln hectares, 67% were sown, or approximately 4.603 mln hectares. The previous week, 52% had been sown, while in the same period last year the rate was 51%. The five-year average is 63%.

In Paraná, 100% of the total area destined for soybeans were sown. The rate is equivalent to approximately 5.900 mln hectares planted. The previous week, the rate was 98%. In the same period last year, the rate was 98%, while the five-year average for the period is 98.8%.

In Mato Grosso, of a total expected area of ​​12.58 mln hectares, approximately 100% have already been sown, equivalent to approximately 12.58 mln hectares. The previous week, the rate was 99%. In the same period last year, the rate was 99%, while the five-year average for the period is 99.4%.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, out of a total estimated area of ​​4.35 mln hectares, 100% have been sown. The previous week, the rate was 100%. In the same period last year, 99% had been sown. The five-year average for the period is 98%.

In Goiás, out of an expected area of ​​4.85 mln hectares, 100% were sown, or approximately 4.85 mln hectares. The previous week, the rate was 96%. In the same period last year, the rate was 87%, while the five-year average for the period is 91.2%.

In São Paulo, out of an expected total area of ​​1.44 mln hectares, approximately 99% were sown, or approximately 1.426 mln hectares. The previous week, the rate was 95%. In the same period last year, 85% had been sown. The five-year average for the period is 91.2%.

In Minas Gerais, 99% were sown, or approximately 2.327 mln hectares of a total area estimated at 2.35 mln hectares. The previous week, the rate was 90%. In the same period last year, 80% had been sown. The five-year average for the period is 90.0%.

In Bahia, out of a total expected area of ​​2.1 mln hectares, 99% have been sown, or approximately 2.079 mln hectares. In the previous week, the rate was 90%. In the same period last year, the rate was 85%, while the five-year average for the period is 79.0%.

Climate maps now indicate a period of greater moisture over the states of the Southern Region between November 29 and December 5. Parts of the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Mato Grosso should also receive some moisture, but at lower levels, while the other states should receive little or no moisture.

Between December 6 and 12, the states of the Midwest and Southeast regions, in addition to the state of Paraná, should receive significant moisture, with the state of Minas Gerais standing out. The states in the North and Northeast regions should also receive rainfall, but at lower levels, while the state of Rio Grande do Sul should not record rainfall during the period.
