Parsnips become a goldmine for farmers
The global market is showing steady growth in interest in parsnips due to their beneficial properties and long shelf life. In the US, the peak consumption occurs during the winter holiday season, while in the UK, this vegetable is planned to be massively introduced into school lunches due to its high folic acid content.
This is reported by FreshPlaza.
For farmers, parsnips are a profitable crop, especially in cold climates, where they traditionally serve as a strategic stock of vegetables for the winter. Tozer is currently testing new hybrids, among which TZ 7508 is attracting special attention. According to experts, the key characteristics for successful cultivation are cancer resistance, smooth white skin, high yield and uniformity of root crop shape.
Several main hybrids have already proven themselves on the market, suitable for both fresh sale and processing into chips or side dishes. In particular, Albion F1 is distinguished by its snow-white skin, which slowly darkens on store shelves. Sabre F1 is the latest development, which retains whiteness and volume along the entire length of the root. Viking F1 is best suited for baking due to its texture, and Gladiator F1 is valued for its classic cone-shaped shape.
