Pakistan to buy large quantities of US soybeans in 2025

Pakistan plans to significantly increase its soybean imports from the United States in 2025. The recent purchase of 225,000 tonnes of US soybeans, for delivery starting September 1, is the largest since the introduction of restrictions on genetically modified soybeans in October 2022.
The move comes amid growing demand for soybeans from Pakistani poultry producers. According to the US Department of Agriculture, the only other time Pakistan has purchased 297,000 tonnes of US soybeans was in June 2022.
It is important to note that this deal comes amid an ongoing 29% reciprocal tariff imposed by the US on Pakistani imports. The two countries are currently negotiating a more favorable trade agreement that could further increase trade.
