Pakistan Gains Competitive Edge In Kenya With Reduced Rice Export Tariffs
Pakistan has secured a major trade victory as Kenya agrees to lower the customs valuation of Pakistani rice from $615 to $460 per metric ton, significantly boosting Pakistan’s export competitiveness in the region.
This breakthrough follows sustained diplomatic efforts by Pakistan’s Trade Mission in Nairobi, which engaged in extensive negotiations with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Office of the Kenyan President to address pricing disparities.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) hailed the achievement, emphasising that the revised valuation will increase market access for Pakistani rice, enhance exports, and strengthen bilateral trade ties with Kenya.
Meanwhile, this development underscores Pakistan’s commitment to removing trade barriers and fostering a more favourable export environment.
With Kenya being a key market, the success further solidifies Pakistan’s position as a leading global supplier of high-quality rice, while reinforcing its status as a competitive and reliable trade partner on the world stage.
