Over 42% of total volume of standard-quality seeds of grains and oilseeds are produced in Ukraine
According to the Agrarian Economics Institute, production of standard-quality seeds (pre-basic, basic, and certified ones) of major grains and oilseeds in 2020 totaled some 400 KMT, including 72 KMT of oilseeds (soya, rape and sunflower), UkrAgroConsult reports.
Out of the total amount of certified seeds of major grains and oilseeds:
– Ukrainian-bred seeds – 167.3 KMT, or 42.2%;
– foreign-bred seeds – 232.7 KMT, or 57.8%, including:
- foreign-bred seed imports – 62.2 KMT;
- 5 KMT of foreign-bred seeds were produced and certified in Ukraine. The total amount of standard-quality foreign-bred seeds is 232.7 KMT (57.8%).
The percentage of standard-quality Ukrainian-bred seeds is as follows: soya – 10.7%, rape – 10.2%, sunflower – 7.4%.
