Opening the US market to Ukrainian poultry and eggs was the focus of bilateral talks

The Head of the State Food and Consumer Protection Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Tkachuk, has completed a working trip to the United States, during which meetings were held with representatives of three departments of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The State Food and Consumer Protection Service reports on the details of the negotiations.
Thus, at the meeting with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, Serhiy Tkachuk discussed increasing bilateral trade in agricultural products and fair trade practices. Ukraine has the potential to replace Russian and Chinese products on the American market. Separately, they focused on the priority of opening the US market for Ukrainian poultry and eggs.
During the meeting with the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service, the issue of access of domestic poultry meat and eggs to the American market was discussed. The State Food and Consumer Protection Service has already provided all the necessary information and is ready to undergo inspections, even in an online format, which it has previously successfully practiced with the United Kingdom, Canada, and the EU. The Ukrainian side also stressed the importance of moving forward with applications for pork and beef. The American side noted progress and confirmed its readiness for technical consultations.
During the negotiations with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the issues of the epizootic situation, disease assessment procedures and inspections were raised. Ukraine is ready to promptly provide data and participate in virtual meetings. Applications for access to the US market for Ukrainian corn and queen bees were also discussed. The Americans noted positive dynamics regarding corn and promised to consider the issue of bees in the near future.
