Northern Macedonia: This year’s wheat harvest brought significant growth and positive results in local agriculture

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Cvetan Tripunovski, in an interview presented the figures and announced concrete measures with which the state is focusing on increasing local production and securing state reserves with Macedonian products.
He said that this year’s wheat harvest brought significant growth and positive results for local agriculture.
The Minister emphasized that the institution is actively working on transforming the agricultural system, with a clear goal – reducing import dependence.
“We are working to increase production, so that Macedonia will finally not be considered an import-dependent country. The trend of increasing production is a serious indicator,” he explained.
Tripunovski warned that after a long period, the state will replenish reserves with domestic production.
“We cannot allow state reserves to be filled with wheat that comes from outside our borders, but we will fill the reserves with our own domestic wheat. The first call for supply of 9.000 tons from the 2025 harvest has also been announced, directly from producers,” stressed Minister Tripunovski.
