Musk announced the beginning of the liquidation of USAID

American billionaire Elon Musk, who heads the US Government Performance and Accountability Office (DOGE), has announced the start of liquidation of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). According to Reuters, he announced this during a broadcast on the social network X.
“We are in the process of liquidating USAID,” he said. In his opinion, this structure “cannot be restored”. “It’s not a bad apple, it’s just a bunch of worms,” Musk said.
According to the billionaire, President Donald Trump agrees that USAID should be closed. This is part of the US government’s cost-cutting initiative, he added.
Earlier, Musk published a series of posts on X in which users endorsed the intention to cut off USAID funding.
In one of the posts, the businessman said that USAID funded biological weapons research: “Did you know that USAID, using your tax dollars, has funded biological weapons research, including COVID-19, that has killed millions of people?”
As reported, USAID has confirmed the complete suspension of funding for all programs and projects in Ukraine for 90 days to implement the State Department’s directive on foreign aid audits. This decision applies to all countries where USAID operates, with the exception of Israel and Egypt.
USAID supports projects in more than 100 countries around the world, including Ukraine, where funds are used to rebuild schools, provide healthcare services, and repair the critical energy system.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, USAID has allocated $2.6 billion in humanitarian aid to Ukraine and $5 billion in development assistance.
