More than 5.5 million hectares of winter crops sown in Ukraine

Ukraine is gradually finishing sowing winter crops. Seven regions of the country have already completed the sowing campaign. Over the past week, it came to an end in Chernihiv and Chernivtsi regions. Last week, farmers in Ivano-Frankivsk region completed the sowing campaign, followed by those in Poltava, Volyn, Zaporizhzhia and Zakarpattia.
As of the first week of November, the total area under all winter crops is 5 million 530 thousand hectares. Grains were sown on more than 4 million 386 thousand hectares. In particular, wheat – 3 867 thou hectares, barley – 442 thou hectares and rye – 76 thou hectares. The increase in grain plantings for the week amounted to 175 thou hectares.
Winter rapeseed sowing has been completed in all regions, with 1 mln 144 thsd ha sown.
