Ministry increases Argentine soybean area in 2024/25; planting advances to 36%

The Argentine Ministry of Agriculture estimated the planting of 17.9 mln hectares of soybeans in the country in the 2024/25 season, up 0.6% from the estimate of 17.8 mln hectares in October and up 7.8% from 16.6 mln hectares in the 2023/24 season.
Regarding sowing, the weekly survey released on Thursday (21) by the Argentine Ministry of Economy, through the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, indicated that the soybean planting for the 2024/25 season reached 36% of the total expected area of 17.914 mln hectares.
According to the Ministry, the sowing was 25% complete the previous week. In the same period last year, planting had reached 33% of the 16.564 mln hectares cultivated in the 2023/24 season.
The climate maps indicate a period of low moisture over the main growing provinces between November 22 and 28, which should continue to allow for good work progress.
From November 29 to December 5, high moisture is expected for the northernmost provinces of Argentina, while the provinces of the Core Zone should receive significant rainfall but at lower levels.
