Malaysia’s palm oil production up 3.51%
According to the Malaysian Palm Oil Producers Association (MPOC), Malaysian palm oil production increased by 3.51% month-on-month from 1 May to 20 May 2025.
Peninsular Malaysia’s production increased by 4.09% month-on-month, while East Malaysia’s production increased by 2.75%. Sabah, the main producing state, saw its production increase by 4.52%.
Malaysia’s palm oil exports in April 2025 increased by 24.6% month-on-month. Palm oil prices are expected to remain soft until the third quarter of 2025 as palm oil stockpiles are rapidly increasing and production is increasing.
Palm oil prices had earlier returned below soybean oil levels and continued to decline amid concerns over rising palm kernel production in the coming period. Malaysia in April cut the base price for domestic purchases of butter and kept the export duty on its export at 10%.
