Malaysia To Import Quality Rice And Meat From Pakistan
Malaysia has agreed to import over 100,000 metric tons of high-quality rice of the Basmati variant and meat from Pakistan as part of the commitment agreed during the visit of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister is also keen to attract highly skilled workers from various sectors like IT, AI, and semiconductors which he said could be one of the source countries for these types of workers.
Anwar who said the visit is personally fulfilling, is there for the first time since taking office in November 2022 and has a packed itinerary lined up. He will begin his engagements tomorrow with a restricted meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the latter’s official residence, followed by a bilateral discussion between delegations from both nations at the same venue.
The leaders are set to witness the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs), including agreements between the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), as well as between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.
Anwar will also meet President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President’s official residence, where he will be conferred the ‘Nishan-e-Pakistan’, the country’s highest civilian award.
