Major crops improved in the US
Last week in the USA the condition of the main agricultural crops improved. This is reported by Grain On-Line agency with reference to the National Agricultural Statistics Service under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (NASS).
The share of corn crops in excellent and good condition rose to 68% (67% a week earlier and 55% a year ago), soybeans – to 68% (67% and 51%), spring wheat – to 75% (72% and 47%).
Meteorologists are forecasting above-average temperatures across the country for the next two weeks, with above-average precipitation also expected in the eastern “Corn Belt.” Meteorologists are not predicting weather threats that could damage yields of corn, which is now going through the flowering phase, and soybeans, which are beginning to form beans.
Harvesting of winter wheat by July 7 has been completed on 63% of the area. On the same date last year, 43% of the area was harvested, while the average for the last five years was 52%.
