Low demand for vessels and lack of orders put pressure on freight rates in Ukrainian ports

Weak demand for ships and a small number of orders are forcing shipowners to keep freight rates from Ukrainian ports low, Spike Brokers experts say.
Thus, the cost of freight for firewood from the Danube ports remained almost unchanged during the week, only in the direction of the Eastern Mediterranean it decreased by $ 1/t. Freight rates for barge transportation to Ruse and Silistra also remain low, as do rates for handysize transportation.
At the same time, tariffs for panamax transportation to South Vietnam increased by $1/mt, and to China decreased by $1/t.
As of August 28, freight rates for river transportation were:
Izmail – Constanta, Romania (1-3 thousand tons) -10 €/t,
Izmail – Ruse/Sistra (Bulgaria) (1-3 thousand tons) – 16 €/t,
Izmail – east coast of Greece (5-7 thsd tonnes) – 19-20 $/t,
Reni – Marmara (Turkey) (5-7 thsd tonnes) – 17-18 $/t.
At the same time, the rates for transportation from the port of Chornomorsk were as follows:
Israel (30-35 thsd tonnes) – 29-30 $/t,
South China (60-65 thsd tonnes) – 50-51 $/t,
South Vietnam (60-65 thsd tonnes) – 47-48 $/t.
