Lebanon is interested in importing meat, dairy and cattle from Ukraine

Ukraine exports more than $400 million worth of products to Lebanon, although the potential is $1 billion. Supplies of cattle, meat, and dairy products are promising.
This was stated by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval following a visit to Lebanon, the ministry’s press service reports.
It is noted that the Minister met with Lebanese businessmen – representatives of more than 12 companies engaged in imports: flour millers, traders, entrepreneurs who buy food, meat and grain from Ukraine.
According to Koval, Lebanese entrepreneurs import tens of thousands of tons of cattle. Recently, they have also started importing sheep to Lebanon. Due to the shortage of meat, these areas of livestock production can be promising for Ukrainian farmers.
“Today we export more than $400 million worth of products to Lebanon, although the potential is $1 billion. That is why the task of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is to increase imports of our products to Lebanon. I discussed with their business what needs to be done to increase trade. Lebanese entrepreneurs pointed out some bureaucratic issues and logistical problems. Now I clearly understand what needs to be simplified in the procedures. Lebanon is an important trading partner for us, so we will continue to work on developing our relations,” Koval emphasized.
The Minister noted that the Ukrainian community in Lebanon is very active. During the meeting with its representatives, the Ukrainian delegation discussed logistics links with Ukraine and the increase of domestic products in Lebanese stores.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
