Kazakhstan to harvest 15.5 mln tons of grain in 2025 – USDA forecast

Favorable weather conditions in the main grain-growing regions of Kazakhstan allowed the US Department of Agriculture to forecast the volume of the harvest to be collected in Kazakhstan in 2025. In its latest review, which was published last Saturday, the forecast was increased from 14.5 to 15.5 million tons.
According to the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, there were no significant changes in prices for grain crops on the domestic market of Kazakhstan last week.
11,539 tons of wheat were sold on the ETS exchange: grade 4 at a price of 90-93 thousand tenge, grade 3 with 25% gluten – 102 thousand tenge, grade 3 with 30% gluten – 135 thousand tenge, grade 5 – 80 thousand tenge. A deal was also made on grade 2 barley – 88 thousand tenge.
During the week, the following lots were repeatedly offered on ETS: wheat of class 3 with 23% gluten at a price of 95-102 thousand tenge, 3 class with 25% gluten – 102-104 thousand tenge, 27% gluten – 128-133 thousand tenge, 30% gluten – 131-137 thousand tenge, 4 class – 92-95 thousand tenge, barley – 88-90 thousand tenge. However, transactions on these lots did not take place. At the same time, the lower price values were offered on the last day of trading on July 11.
Export prices for grain – without significant changes. The rate of shipment is seasonally reduced due to the importers’ own new harvest. In addition, many elevators are currently undergoing repairs and fumigation and do not accept or ship grain.
Informing about the weather, the head of the Analytics Committee of the Grain Union of Kazakhstan, Yevgeny Karabanov, noted that last week in most northern regions of the country, focal thunderstorms continued. At the same time, the daytime temperature background slightly decreased – 21-27 ° C. The development phase of most spring cereals is the emergence of the tube/earing. The development phase of flax is flowering.
“For this period of plant vegetation, the current weather conditions are optimal,” said E. Karabanov.
This week, forecasters predict unstable weather with variable cloudiness and light rains, with moderate daytime temperatures of 18-25 ° C. These conditions are favorable not only for plants, but also for most fungal diseases and pests, which requires fungicidal and insecticidal plant protection.
“It is precisely because of favorable weather conditions that the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service FAS in its latest review dated July 12 increased the forecast for the wheat harvest in Kazakhstan in 2025 – from 14.5 to 15.5 million tons,” the head of the Committee noted. Summarizing the analysis of the grain market, he reported that the current weather conditions in the northern regions of Kazakhstan are still favorable for obtaining a good harvest of grain, legumes and oilseeds, provided that timely work is carried out to protect plants from pests and fungal infections.
