Kazakhstan reduced sunseed exports last season
Sales of sunflower seeds to foreign markets in the season 2023/24 brought Kazakhstan $87.2 mln. The main buyer was China, where more than 90% of volumes went.
The top five buyers in monetary terms were as follows:
1) China – $80.3 mln;
2) Russia – $3.7 mln;
3) Uzbekistan – $1.7 mln;
4) Tajikistan – $0.5 mln;
5) Azerbaijan – $ 0.5 million.
It is also noted that small amounts of oilseeds went to Afghanistan – $0.2 mln, Czech Republic – $0.1 mln, Lithuania – $0.1 mln and Turkey – $0.1 mln.
Compared to the agricultural season of 2022/23, exports in monetary terms decreased significantly. Kazakhstan earned $147.4 million from the sale of sunflower seeds, the main buyer was also China with $100.8 million, but also a large share of income brought sales to Uzbekistan – $36.7 million.
