Kazakhstan reduced imports of Russian wheat in January

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, in January 2024, the country imported 185.6 thousand tons of Russian wheat, which is 33% less than in December 2023.
Imports of Russian barley in January amounted to 12.5 thousand tons, rice – 0.6 thousand tons, oats – 0.4 thousand tons, corn – 0.3 thousand tons, rye – 0.3 thousand tons.
For the whole year 2023 Kazakhstan imported 2,613.3 thousand tons of Russian wheat, 486.0 thousand tons of barley, 18.2 thousand tons of rice, 13.5 thousand tons of corn, 12.7 thousand tons of rye, 7.4 thousand tons of oats. The volume of Kazakh wheat supplies to Russia last year did not exceed 6.5 thousand tons, barley – 2.4 thousand tons.
