Kazakhstan plans to export corn to China and Iran
Kazakhstan intends to export corn to new markets. In particular, for today is working on the possibility of supplies to China and Iran. The issue of production and sale of corn was considered at a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on foreign trade policy and participation in international economic organizations. This was reported by the press service of the government.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, in 2023, the sown areas of corn were increased by 12.8 thousand hectares and brought to 193.8 thousand hectares (180.9 thousand hectares in 2022). 1207.5 thousand tons of corn grain were threshed with an average yield of 65.8 c/ha (57 c/ha in 2022).
The volumes of processed products are also growing annually. In particular, the production of molasses used for sweet drinks, sauces and confectionery is increasing. If in 2021 the country produced 46.3 thousand tons of molasses, in 2022 – already 57.3 thousand tons. And for 10 months of 2023 produced 40.7 thousand tons of products.
At the same time, the total capacity of two Kazakhstani plants for deep processing of corn is 210 thousand tons per year. Given the growing volumes and potential in processing, it was decided to discuss with domestic enterprises the possibility of increasing the share of Kazakhstani molasses in the production of confectionery and beverages.
