Kazakhstan loses flour exports

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan notes a positive trend in the volume of processed product exports. Such categories as vegetable oil and meat products are in the positive. However, flour was in the negative.
“Currently, there is a positive trend in the growth of the dynamics of processed product exports. Thus, in 2024, the growth was almost 15% – $ 2.7 billion. In 2023 – $ 2.3 billion. At the same time, the share of processed products in total exports increased from 42% to 52%,” the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The volume of vegetable oil exports increased by 29% and amounted to about 500 thousand tons. Flour confectionery in physical terms – an increase of almost 12% – up to 21 thousand tons.
In terms of processed livestock products, good export indicators are observed for sausages: 2023 – 344 tons, 2024 – 507 tons. Beef: 2023 – 15.6 thousand tons, 2024 – 21.6 thousand tons. Lamb: 2023 – 7.9 thousand tons, 2024 – 17.6 thousand tons.
“At the same time, there is a decrease in flour exports by 4.6%,” the department noted, adding that in 2023, flour exports amounted to 1 million 962 thousand tons, in 2024 – 1 million 876 thousand tons.
As processors reported, the situation in the flour milling industry is stalemate. Flour is being replaced by grain in the main sales markets. In the coming years, Kazakhstan will finally lose the flour export market.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
