Kazakhstan increases grain exports by 29%
In January – October of this year grain exports increased by 29% and amounted to 7.7 million tons. The main markets for Kazakhstani grain and milling products remain Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia and China. For 10 months grain transportation to Uzbekistan increased by 24%, Tajikistan by 9%, Turkmenistan by 78%, Russia by 56%. Grain shipments to Kyrgyzstan doubled.
In addition, exports of milled products to Uzbekistan increased by 5%, Kyrgyzstan by 67%, and China by 79%.
According to KTZh, the volume of grain transportation by rail in January – October this year increased by 24% compared to the same period last year. For 10 months of 2023, the railroad transported 9.4 million tons of grain. Domestically, 1.7 million tons were transported, up 4% year-on-year.
The loading of milling products for 10 months increased by 4% to 2.5 million tons. At the same time, 1.8 million tons were shipped for export, an increase of 7%.
In October over 900 thousand tons of grain and 283 thousand tons of milling products were transported. Domestically, transportation of grain increased by 25%, milling products – by 42%.
It is reported that the transportation of grain and milling products involved more than 17.2 thousand boxcars and more than 10 thousand grain carriers. Transportation of cargo on the network of KTZh is carried out within the framework of the main plan, formed for the coming month at the request of shippers, taking into account the capacity of railway infrastructure.
