Kazakhstan increased sunflower oil production by 24.9% in the first half of the year

Production of sunflower oil (unrefined) in Kazakhstan for the first 7 months of 2025 amounted to 365.4 thousand tons, which is 24.9% more than in the same period of 2024, the National Statistics Bureau of the Republic reported.
Sunflower oil exports for the first half of 2025 increased by 46.2%. The main importing countries included Russia and China, vegetable oils were also delivered to Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany and France.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic reminds that the growth in vegetable oil production in Kazakhstan is due to the increase in the area sown with oilseeds. In 2025, their area increased by 36% (+1.055 million hectares). The largest increase was observed for sunflower – +481 thousand hectares (a record sown area in history), flax – +376 thousand hectares and rapeseed – +173 thousand hectares.
The average utilisation of production capacities for the period was 35%, which indicates significant potential for further increase in processing volumes.
