Jordan: Wheat and Barley Stocks Within Safe Limits
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Ninal Al-Barmawi, confirmed that the strategic stock of wheat and barley in Jordan remains within safe limits. Current wheat quantities contracted and stored in ministry silos are sufficient for 10 months, while barley stocks can cover seven months of consumption.
Al-Barmawi noted that the ministry continuously issues tenders to purchase additional quantities to maintain stock levels. Monthly consumption is estimated at 90,000 tons for wheat and 80,000 tons for barley.
The ministry recently issued a tender to purchase between 100,000 and 120,000 tons of wheat. Interested parties are invited to visit the tender department to obtain a copy of the invitation, which includes terms and specifications, for a non-refundable fee of JD 650. The deadline for submitting bids is 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
